2nd June 2008, my first day at new office near Safed pool- Andheri - East. Coming to Sakinaka from Kandivali – West and then going to Safed Pool was a tiring journey. Now I have to do it everyday for next couple of years. Hence, I decided to try out all possible routes to come to my new office.
In my last 9 years of travel to my old office in Matunga Road, I always had the pleasure of going return from Kandivali to Borivali and then to Matunga Road sitting or napping in train
Routes tried to go to new office
Boarded bus no 398 from Kandivali –East. The bus goes via Dindoshi & then via Aarey colony. It took 1 hour to reach to Sakinaka and then 10 minutes to Safed Pool in a Kurla Bus.

Routes tried to go to new office
Boarded bus no 398 from Kandivali –East. The bus goes via Dindoshi & then via Aarey colony. It took 1 hour to reach to Sakinaka and then 10 minutes to Safed Pool in a Kurla Bus.
Tookbus no 388 which starts from Poinsur Depot and goes till Andheri –West on SV Road and then takes the Andheri Flyover to go to Safed Pool. It took me 1 hr 45 minutes to reach to office.
Took a train to Andheri Station 20 (minutes) and then bus no 332 from Andheri –East. Although there were plenty of 332 buses one after another, it then creates shortage of buses for some time. It’s a difficult task to come out of station from the foot over bridge. There were two ques for the bus, one of sitting and one of standing passengers and hence the chaos while boarding the bus. Bus took ½ hr to Safed pool. (Of course after waiting for 20-25 minutes at bus stop for my number to come.
Fourth route, I joined my colleague from office at Dindoshi. We then reached office in 45 minutes in his car and for me in 1 hour.
Same thing I repeated while coming back from Office to Home.
I tried several routes to come back home includes
Go with office colleague in his car to Kandivali – East highway via Aarey colony; take a bus to station; cross the level crossing at rail station; take another bus to home.
Go with office colleague in his car to Goregaon Check Naka via Aarey colony, take a bus from Checknaka to Goregaon –East station; take a train to Kandivali; take a bus to home.
Took a 388 bus which goes to Poinsur depot via Andheri- West S V Road.
Took a 488 bus which goes to Borivali- West via Goregaon – West S V Road.
Took a 332 bus go to Andheri – East rail station; take overcrowded train and get down at Kandivali; take a bus to home.
Took 332 bus go to Andheri – East rail station; went to Andheri- West, Took a bus till Jogeshwari station; got in to the train from Platform no 2 side.
But I enjoy going to office for, it always feels great to be in office with some new tasks waiting for you to complete. New friends and colleagues and the of course the Mavashi who serves us Tea as soon as we are on our table.
The beauty of nature which I get to enjoy on my way through Aarey colony makes the journey a new adventure everytime.
And of course the fastest route to go to office and come back is to own a vehicle or take a train to Andheri and then a bus. (Presuming that the train and bus will be on time and you get the first preference)
